Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Media Relations:
Develop a strong and healthy relationship with all media. - Serve as the court’s official media liaison, responding to inquiries from journalists and coordinating interviews with court officials in a timely manner.
- Draft press releases, media advisories, and official court statements.
- Monitor news coverage related to the court and provide timely responses to misinformation.
- Public Communications & Outreach.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to inform the public about court services, policies, and initiatives.
- Monitor and assist in updating the court’s website and social media platforms for accuracy and timely information.
- Assist the Judges in organizing public education campaigns, community engagement events, and informational sessions on court-related topics.
- Internal Communications & Crisis Management:
- Assist in drafting internal communications for judges, court staff, and stakeholders.
- Develop crisis communication plans and provide rapid response messaging in case of emergencies or high‑profile cases.
- Respond to public records requests in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Ensure the court’s compliance with open records laws while protecting sensitive or confidential information.
- Content Creation & Publications, including the Annual Report.
- Prepare brochures, newsletters, and reports on court activities and programs.
- Develop accessible materials to educate the public about legal rights, responsibilities, and procedures.

Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNone
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, political science, or a related field.
- Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or government communications.
- Knowledge of the judicial system, court operations, and public records laws is highly preferred.
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to translate complex legal information into clear, accessible language for the public.
- Experience managing social media platforms, website content, and digital communication tools.
- Ability to work under pressure, especially during high‑profile court cases or crisis situations.
- Strong ethical judgment and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Experience in a court, law enforcement, or government agency.
- Professional certification in Public Relations (APR) or related fields.
- Familiarity with case management systems and public record‑keeping software.
- Primarily an office setting, with travel to community events, press conferences, or other public engagements.
- Some after‑hours or weekend work may be required for communications or high‑profile cases.
In accomplishing the responsibilities of this position, the Court expects that the employee will adhere to the mission and values of the Court as well as all Court policies and procedures. In addition, while carrying out the duties of this position, the employee is expected to model high ethical conduct on and off the job and exhibit a professional and respectful demeanor with all Court employees.
