Project Specialist, Office of the Mayor
The Project Specialist in the Office of the Mayor is a high-performing, service-oriented professional who supports senior staff in the Office of the Mayor with constituent concerns and day-to-day City operations, as well as maintains a portfolio of longer-term projects that align with the strategic direction of the Office of the Mayor. This individual will be able to quickly learn and digest new information, turn ambiguous problems into tangible solutions, and will be comfortable regularly liaising with senior leadership in the Office of the Mayor and across the City.
This position will report to the Manager of Strategic Projects in the Office of the Mayor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS- Working with Cabinet members and departmental staff to address day-to-day concerns elevated to the Office of the Mayor.
- Mastering City processes to support the swift execution of Office of the Mayor priorities.
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Office of the Mayor.
- Corresponding with constituents of behalf of the Office of the Mayor.
- Writing memos, briefing documents, and drafting slide decks on behalf of OOM staff and presenting them to senior leadership or stakeholders as needed.
- Managing relationships among city departments and senior management.
- Providing day-to-day support to the Mayor’s Office.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in political science, public policy, public administration, or related field OR four years of related work experience
- 1–3 years of relevant professional experience (including internships, fellowships, or project-based work).
- Experience supporting projects, research, coordination, or operations in a professional setting.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise briefing materials.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with evolving priorities.
- Ability to build productive working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
$65,000 – $80,000, commensurate with experience.
