Project Specialist, Office of the Mayor
The Project Specialist in the Office of the Mayor is a high-performing, service-oriented professional who supports senior staff with constituent concerns and day-to-day City operations, and maintains a portfolio of longer-term projects aligned with the strategic direction of the Office of the Mayor.
This position reports to the Manager of Strategic Projects in the Office of the Mayor.
The Project Specialist will quickly learn and digest new information, turn ambiguous problems into tangible solutions, and comfortably liaise with senior leadership in the Office of the Mayor and across the City.
Essential Duties and Job Functions- Work with Cabinet members and departmental staff to address day-to-day concerns elevated to the Office of the Mayor.
- Master City processes to support the swift execution of Office of the Mayor priorities.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Office of the Mayor.
- Correspond with constituents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor.
- Write memos, briefing documents, and draft slide decks on behalf of OOM staff and present them to senior leadership or stakeholders as needed.
- Manage relationships among city departments and senior management.
- Provide day-to-day support to the Mayor’s Office.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in political science, public policy, public administration, or related field OR four years of related work experience.
- 1–3 years of relevant professional experience (including internships, fellowships, or project-based work).
- Experience supporting projects, research, coordination, or operations in a professional setting.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise briefing materials.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with evolving priorities.
- Ability to build productive working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
$65,000 – $80,000, commensurate with experience.
