- Planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling the work of the Division.
- Revising and developing work methods to support division priorities.
- Ensuring proficient resource utilization and quality of work performed and services rendered; writing/establishing policies and procedures within the Division.
- Maintaining the highest technical and professional authority to make final decisions in the types of claims considered most difficult or critical, which commit the Federal Government to unusual liability.
- Forecasting both short- and long-range workloads of the division so adequate funds, staffing, space, equipment, and supplies will be planned for, budgeted, and provided.
- Reviewing written correspondence to individuals, Congressional, White House, or other special inquiries for approval.
- Serving as a technical advisor to the Service Center Manager and/or Regional Office Director for the administration of Compensation and Pension programs.
- Establishing and building relationships with stakeholders to exchange or distribute information regarding agency programs or policies.
Specific Duties Include

Physical RequirementsThe regular and recurring work of the position is primarily sedentary. Some walking, bending, stooping and carrying of light materials may be necessary. Occasional use of an automobile and public transportation may be required to attend conferences and meetings. No special physical exertion is required.

Time‑in‑grade RequirementsApplicants who are current federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time‑in‑grade requirements.
