SummaryThe Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) provides comprehensive skilled care as ordered by the attending physician within the specified geographic territory. The OTA educates patients and their families and ensures patient safety. The OTA is accountable for accurate documentation and remains compliant with all legal rules and regulations. The company adopts the occupational therapy scope of practice as outlined by the state of employment.

- Occupational Therapist Assistant with a current license in the state of employment.
- Minimum of one year of experience as an OTA in an acute setting.
- Home‑care experience is desired.
- Ability to effectively communicate and create positive impressions with patients, families, physicians, and co‑workers.
- Knowledgeable on therapy best practices.
- Ability to make appropriate occupational therapy judgments.
- Ability to identify a situation and handle it with the best possible solution.
- Detail‑oriented and observant.
- Disciplined work ethic with the ability to prioritize and be timely.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance with your name as a listed driver.
- Provides skilled occupational therapy services in a patient’s home according to the Occupational Therapist plan of care.
- Observes, records, and reports patient reactions, changes, and progress.
- Assesses functional problems and provides intervention; works toward goals to improve functional status.
- Helps decrease re‑hospitalizations by front‑loading visits for high‑risk patients.
- Performs occupational therapy procedures and diagnostic tests on patients as medically prescribed.
- Guides the patient in therapeutic, creative, and self‑care activities to improve functioning.
- Communicates effectively with physician, therapist, and co‑workers.
- Participates in case conferencing promoting coordination of care.
- Educates staff in therapeutic modalities when appropriate.
- Educates patient and family about treatment procedures, safety measures, and equipment use.
- Instructs on proper use of wheelchairs, braces, walkers, crutches, canes, and other prosthetic/orthotic devices.
- Fosters independence in patients and families to prevent dependence on the agency.
- Listens to patient and family members.
- Completes all clinical documentation in accordance with agency protocol and Medicare/Federal guidelines.
- Documents all aspects of treatment, assessments, and patient education.
- Maintains an active OTA license in Ohio.
- Communicates with the scheduler about changes as needed.
