Summary

* Position summary:
* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Education:
* Associate degree required (experience beyond the below requirements may be substituted for education)
* Required length and type of experience:
* Minimum of two (2) years' experience in hospital inpatient or outpatient coding and/or billing is required. Experience may include internship/job training.
* Experience with electronic medical record systems required (Cerner, Epic, or similar).
* Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Excel & Word, encoders, and billing software required.
* Basic knowledge of charging, billing, and medical necessity is required.
* Required licensure, certification or registry:
* AHIMA or AAPC certification is required.
* AHIMA Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
