Shift: 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday

Summary

Performs community health functions (including vaccinations, health screenings, and associated testing) and patient care duties for employees and community members (adults, adolescents, children) under the direction of physician and/or nurse practitioner and nurse manager in the Metro Health Community Health Services (CHS) sites of care. Performs clerical, reception, and registration duties. Manages provider templates and clinic dates. Tracks clinic statistics and runs reports.

Assists with employee, community, and patient and family outreach to promote the Community Health Services. Monitors and organizes mobile unit schedule and seeks additional support so RV and/or on-site building support may be available to ensure requests are fulfilled when feasible. Functions as the primary driver of the mobile unit and ensures the vehicle is maintained and safe. Assists with the coordination of multi-disciplinary learning activities.

Responsibilities
  • Performs community health functions (including vaccinations, health screenings, and associated testing) and patient care duties for employees and community members.
  • Provide patient care duties under the direction of a physician and/or nurse practitioner and nurse manager in CHS sites.
  • Perform clerical, reception, and registration duties; manage provider templates and clinic dates; track clinic statistics and run reports.
  • Assist with employee, community, patient, and family outreach to promote CHS services.
  • Monitor and organize mobile unit schedule; coordinate with RV or on-site building support to fulfill requests.
  • Act as primary driver of the mobile unit; ensure vehicle maintenance and safety.
  • Assist with the coordination of multi-disciplinary learning activities.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    High school diploma or equivalency; graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, a School of Practical Nursing, or equivalent military training.
  • 2-3 years of medical assisting experience (externships included).
  • BLS Certification from the AHA.
  • Current Ohio Driver's License with a safe driving record not exceeding 6 points.
  • Knowledge of basic medical procedures and medical terminology; ability to relate well with the public and promote services and enrollment to ensure initial and ongoing care, removing financial barriers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse patient population; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and experience collecting data from various software systems.
  • Demonstrated judgment, flexibility, initiative, problem-solving; ability to adapt to changing situations; ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings or weekends.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to multiple Metro Health facilities and other locations as needed.
  • Proven ability to use independent judgment, analytical/decision-making, human relation, teamwork, and organizational skills; ability to interact with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Preferred: CDL Class A or B with Air Brake Endorsement;
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or other healthcare-related field; experience with computer-based billing systems; experience with point-of-service cash collections in a healthcare setting; fluency in English and Spanish; knowledge of EPIC.
