Summary
Responsible for organizing and coordinating all components of referrals, testing and related appointment/scheduling or preauthorization requirements, across providers, departments and partnered divisions within Summa Health. Provides support and communicates necessary information to patients, peers and providers regarding status and processes of referrals and appointments.
Minimum Qualifications- Formal
Education Required:
High School diploma or equivalent - Post High-School level coursework in healthcare or related field preferred
- Experience & Training
Required:
One (1) year of experience in a Medical Office/Registration/Billing setting to include experience with insurance payers, front desk registration duties or related roles (e.g., Medical Assistant, Biller, Registration staff). - Experience working with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
- Computer experience – proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint preferred
- Ability to manage conversations with third-party vendors and insurance payers on behalf of directed patient care to assist in timely and accurate services
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or scheduling form
- Professional conduct in a high-volume medical environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail; familiarity with referral software, health plan websites, and electronic medical records
- Ability to work in a team-based environment and interact with patients, visitors, physicians, and hospital personnel
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Respect for patients’ needs for self-respect and dignity
- Commitment to Summa Health commitments and adherence to attendance, timeliness, and reliability
- Follow and implement all policy and procedures including HIPAA and medical record confidentiality
- Physical Demands:
Sedentary work; may exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally
$19.23/hr - $23.08/hr
The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of bonuses or differentials. Factors such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate. Pay equity and internal equity are considered when making offers. The range listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
