Revenue Cycle Specialist – Denials & Appeals

Remote or Hybrid | Beachwood, OH

Lucas James Talent Partners is partnering with Phothera, a Madison Industries company
, to identify a driven and proactive Revenue Cycle Specialist – Denials & Appeals to join their growing Revenue Cycle team.

Phothera provides innovative in-home phototherapy solutions that help patients safely manage autoimmune skin conditions such as Psoriasis, Atopic Dermatitis, Vitiligo, CTCL, MF, and chronic pruritus. As the organization scales rapidly, they are investing in strengthening their reimbursement strategy and building a focused appeals function to support a high-performing revenue cycle team.

This is an opportunity to join during a pivotal growth phase and play a meaningful role in improving reimbursement outcomes, accelerating cash recovery, and driving operational excellence.

The Opportunity

This position is focused heavily on denial review and appeals resolution. As payer denials continue for certain UV therapy treatments, this role plays a key part in challenging those decisions and securing reimbursement.

You will not simply be processing claims. You will own denied accounts, develop appeal strategies, and help the team work smarter and more effectively.

What You’ll Do
  • Review and resolve denied or underpaid claims
  • Prepare and submit structured appeal documentation
  • Pull and analyze supporting medical records
  • Communicate with payer authorization and appeals committees
  • Track appeal outcomes and identify recurring denial trends
  • Research payer policies and medical necessity guidelines
  • Escalate systemic denial patterns and recommend process improvements
  • Maintain detailed, compliant documentation within the RCM system
What Success Looks Like

Phothera is seeking someone who brings initiative and ownership. This is not a passive role. The ideal candidate:

  • Takes action without waiting to be directed
  • Identifies patterns and systemic issues
  • Brings urgency to appeals and follow-up
  • Thinks beyond task completion and looks for ways to strengthen reimbursement processes
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in Revenue Cycle, Denials, Appeals, or Medical Billing
  • Experience with payer appeals and denial management strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with interpreting medical records and clinical documentation
  • Comfortable communicating directly with insurance carriers and review committees
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
Location & Schedule
  • Remote or hybrid flexibility available
Compensation & Growth
  • $28–$35 per hour
  • Strong growth trajectory – Phothera is projected to nearly double in size
  • Opportunity for expanded responsibility as the reimbursement strategy continues to scale

Why Join Now
