Holds and maintains valid state department of education license/certificates as determined at the time of appointment. All physical therapists must hold and maintain a valid physical therapy license. Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks. Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts responsibility for personal decisions/conduct. Exhibits effective time management and resourceful problem-solving skills. Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.

Meets mandated health screening requirements following a conditional offer of employment. Shows evidence of core computer competencies deemed essential at the time of hire.

Provides physical therapy services to help students benefit from the educational program.

Evaluates students and helps design educationally relevant developmental programs as a collaborative member of the educational team. Participates in ETR process. Evaluates students and recommends services relevant to educational needs. Participates in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) by incorporating physical therapy goals. Assists with program planning. Identifies opportunities to enhance student learning. Helps resolve problems that impede student learning.

Develops intervention strategies that produce tangible evidence-based benefits within specified time-frames. Helps stakeholders understand how physical therapy activities relate to the educational program. Guides students in therapy regimens and the use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology per otptat.ohio.gov. Helps students increase strength, balance, dexterity, coordination and endurance skills. Works with students to improve mobility, restore function, diminish or relieve pain and limit the advent permanent physical disabilities.

Devises/adapts equipment and fabricates splints that facilitate therapy outcomes. Teaches skills that help students manage the learning environment (e.g., assistive technology, augmentative devices, use of instructional/media resources, access/proximity to activities, etc.). Uses Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS), consistent expectations, visual schedules, and trauma-informed practices to manage disruptive students. Helps students improve physical impairments that limit participation in traditional school environments.

Monitors and tracks intervention efficacy. Use data to recommend modifications as needed to improve outcomes. Facilitates inclusion as the preferred placement method for students with special needs. Advocates for students. Observes student demeanor. Investigates/reports atypical behavior. Helps students access their educational environment and grow academically. Promotes creativity, cultural awareness, democratic values, ethical conduct, self-reliance and reflective problem-solving skills. Facilitates student learning activities that encourage teamwork and positive peer relationships.

Provides families information to assist students with therapy activities at home as deemed relevant to support IEP goals. Quantitatively documents student progress and prepares recommendations that comply with state requirements. Evaluates student achievement/performance. Prepares progress reports every time report cards are issued.

Exemplifies professionalism and fosters goodwill to enhance the district's public image. Complies with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators, drug-free workplace rules, board policies and administrative guidelines/procedures.
