Responsibilities- Greet and welcome guests to the restaurant and assist them to their tables or other areas within the venue.
- Manage the waitlist and communicate wait times to guests; use the reservation/wait system to control guest flow.
- Provide information about the venue, events, and menus; answer guest questions regarding the menu, music hall, events, and related topics.
- Polish and maintain the entry doors and windows; ensure dining rooms and restrooms are clean and stocked to standard.
- Follow opening, running, and closing procedures; work with the team to ensure guest satisfaction and safety.
- Enforce responsible alcohol service in accordance with local laws and House of Blues policies; request proper identification for guests appearing under 30.
- Recognize signs of intoxication and, when appropriate, limit alcohol service in a courteous, safe manner and alert a manager.
- Assist with special events scheduled within the venue.
- Gather guest details for reservations (names, party size, contact information, and any accessibility or children’s needs) and direct guests accordingly.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to inquiries or requests; promote upcoming shows and events when appropriate.
- Work authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer visa sponsorship.
- Attention to detail, positive attitude, and a team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, dynamic environment; maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance.
- Punctuality with a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
- Tolerance of diverse cultures, music, and art forms; strong diplomacy, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills; experience with reservation systems is a plus.
- Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training Certification or equivalent (paid training provided).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment.
- Experience recognizing valid IDs; familiarity with MICROS POS or Open Table and other reservation software; prior host/customer service experience.
- Willing to commute to downtown area (discounted parking available).
- Fast-paced, can be hot and loud; prolonged standing and being on your feet is required.
