Through a strong Christian worldview, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for all human resource policies and procedures including recruitment, selection, retention, training and development, performance management, legal compliance, and employment practices/procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This role may supervise interns as applicable.
- Coaches, corrects, rewards, recognizes, and reviews and interns in accordance with TCM's Core Values & policies.
Employee Life Cycle
- Oversees recruitment efforts to generate high-quality candidates by identifying and promoting open positions.
- Oversees applicant management for TCM's open positions & internships, screening and interviewing according to TCM's hiring policies.
- Conducts new hire orientation program, integrating new employees into TCM's culture.
- Assists managers in employee discipline matters.
- Handles employee exits.
- Creates and implements a professional development plan to facilitate succession planning and employee growth across the organization.
- Maintains and updates employee job descriptions.
- Oversees the performance management process.
- Constantly evaluates the Mission's HR Department against current laws and trends, recommending improvements in alignment with TCM's Statement of Faith.
- Stays current with HR law through SHRM and other entities, as well as anticipates, devises plans for and accurately implements changes due to changes in the law.
- Advises and works closely with management to ensure organization compliance with all federal, state, and local laws related to employee discipline, performance management, employment, and training.
- Cultivate relationships with organizations and community leaders through networking.
- Develops and maintains Employee Handbook and Human Resources procedures manual for the Mission.
- Serves as primary backup for Payroll and Benefits Manager duties
- Serves as board liaison in relation to escalated employee issues.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in related field, preferably with a concentration in Human Resources, required.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
- 7+ years of professional HR experience, preferably including 3 years or more managing the HR area for an organization with proven experience leading recruitment, staff training, employee engagement, performance management and other HR initiatives required.
- Non-profit experience preferred.
- Remains in a stationary position for approximately 70% of the time
- Stand or walk for up 30% of the time on various surfaces (tile, concrete, carpet)
- Climb stairs.
- Constantly bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties.
- Constant use of both hands, fingers, and arms in reaching/handling/grasping.
- Operates a computer as needed
- Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination.
- Constant use of hearing (correctable hearing to normal level required) for day-to-day job functions
- Read, understand, and clearly speak English; constantly use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with public/co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phones.
- Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments.
- Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
- Must be able to handle pressure of interruptions in daily activities.
