SummaryThe Campus Acquisition Specialist is responsible for identifying, engaging, and hiring talent (including interns, co‑ops, full‑time workers) from various educational institutions. S/he will collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, develop recruitment strategies, and establish relationships with colleges and universities to attract top‑tier applicants. The specialist also participates in career fairs, campus events, and information sessions to promote the company and job opportunities to students.
Additionally, s/he frequently utilizes these events to connect and engage with job seekers face‑to‑face, conduct initial screenings, promote Baker’s brand, and potentially identify qualified applicants for current or future job openings. The specialist also performs administrative functions related to recruiting.
- Attend career events, including schools, military bases, minority associations, and other local outreach sources
- Maintain relationships with schools and instructors at events, career fairs, and classrooms (technical schools, high schools, trade schools)
- Manage the intern program, including sourcing, recruiting, onboarding, coordinating intern housing and logistics, and final presentations/banquets
- Serve as main point of contact for interns
- Coordinate events that promote team spirit among interns/co‑ops
- Oversee the evaluation process of interns/co‑ops, including presentations, feedback sessions, and final ratings and rankings
- Monitor social media outlets for available candidates
- Screen resumes received through the applicant tracker
- Conduct pre‑screening interviews
- Maintain relationships with future prospects
- Provide input to the Regional Talent Manager regarding qualified candidates
- Register for career events and track pertinent information (career fairs visited, people interviewed and hired)
- Ensure PowerPoint presentations remain updated and applicable to events
- Arrange for sufficient supplies for various career events
- Send follow‑up correspondence to candidates
- Coordinate travel/relocation arrangements
- Post job openings and review resumes submitted to the ATS
- Assist the Regional Talent Manager on Baker‑sponsored recruiting events
- Champion an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) environment
- Set an example by following safety guidelines, including wearing PPE on jobs and staying aware of surroundings
- Comply with proper safety procedures
- Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years related experience preferably in construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills at various levels within the company
- Ability to read and comprehend procedures, regulations, and laws
- Adapt presentation style to the applicable audience
- Perform simple math (addition, subtraction, division, percentages, ratios)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong proficiency with recruiting job boards/platforms such as Handshake, Linked In, Indeed, etc.
- Knowledge of applicant tracking systems;
