IT Project Manager, Scrum Master
Job Description
The Senior Scrum Master is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective implementation of Agile methodologies and the Scrum framework within software development teams. They guide and coach the team, ensure team adherence to Agile principles, and facilitate collaboration among team members, stakeholders, and external parties. The incumbent is responsible for the day‑to‑day facilitation of the Scrum process, while mitigating risks and resolving roadblocks as they arise.
The Senior Scrum Master plays a pivotal role in enabling the team to deliver high‑quality, valuable software products on time and within budget, allowing the organization to reach its goals and enhance user experience.
This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H1‑B visa.
Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company’s staff, employees, and business relationships.
Responsibilities- Facilitate Scrum events, including Sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, Sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Ensure the team adheres to Agile principles and the Scrum framework
- Guide and coach the team, Product Owner, and organization on Scrum practices and values
- Remove impediments to the team's progress, allowing them to focus on delivering high‑quality software
- Promote communication and collaboration among team members and stakeholders to ensure alignment in process and delivery
- Help the team understand and apply key principles of Agile methodologies and the Scrum framework, such as self‑organization and cross‑functionality
- Continuously work to improve team performance and overall organization’s Agile maturity
- Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be addressed without fear
- Work closely with Product Owners to ensure clear and effective product backlog management
- Monitor team progress, ensuring the team is working toward established goals and adjusting priorities as needed
- Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field, or in lieu of a degree, at least 7 years of experience in software development or project management
- Preferred
- Scrum Master certification (e.g., CSM, PSM, or SAFe Scrum Master)
- 4+ years of experience in software development, IT project management, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar Agile coach role
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and Scrum framework
- Experience working with distributed teams and multi‑project environments
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to resolve conflicts and manage expectations
- Experience with Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Azure Dev Ops, Rally)
- Familiarity with programming, cloud technology, and CI/CD concepts
