About the RoleThe Data Product Owner plays a critical role in advancing our client’s data product capabilities, establishing best practices, and driving consistency across the team. In addition to delivering against key initiatives, this individual is expected to elevate the overall maturity of data product ownership by introducing structure, reusable frameworks, and scalable ways of working. A primary focus for this role is leading the Product
360 initiative – consolidating product data from multiple source systems into a unified, governed data product that can be leveraged across customer‑facing applications and enterprise use cases. The role partners closely with data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into clearly defined requirements and to drive adoption and measurable value from data products.
– Duties & Responsibilities
- Defines and manages data product strategy, roadmap, and backlog.
- Leads the Product
360 initiative, including consolidating product data from disparate systems, creating a centralized and trusted product data source, and enabling downstream federation of product data to customer‑facing applications and use cases. - Establishes and promotes data product management best practices across the team.
- Creates standardized templates, frameworks, and playbooks (e.g., roadmaps, user stories, intake processes, prioritization models).
- Recommends and helps implement tooling to support scalable product management and data collaboration across teams.
- Translates business needs into clearly defined data requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Partners with data engineering teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions, analytics teams to enable reporting and insights, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with enterprise priorities.
- Drives value realization and adoption of data products.
- Defines and tracks KPIs and success metrics.
- Supports data governance, quality, and lifecycle management.
- Facilitates effective communication across technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Skills and Abilities
Needed
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in product ownership, product management, data product management, or related roles.
- Proven ability to apply product management best practices within data‑focused initiatives.
- Experience establishing processes, standards, and reusable frameworks across teams.
- Strong understanding of the data product lifecycle.
- Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.
- Hands‑on experience collaborating with data engineering teams as well as analytics and business stakeholders.
- Strong ability to translate business requirements into data solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in manufacturing, retail, or consumer goods industries.
- Understanding of paint, coatings, or related product lines (highly desirable).
- Experience with Product
360 or similar product master data / PIM initiatives. - Knowledge of product ontology design and data modeling concepts.
- Experience with Databricks and modern data platforms.
- Exposure to tools supporting product management, data governance, or data cataloging.
- Experience with enterprise data ecosystems (e.g., Azure, Snowflake, Power BI).
