Description
Our client is looking to add a Sr. Network Security Engineer to their Network Security Engineering team. The team is responsible for securing, governing, and enhancing enterprise network environments. This team focuses on building and supporting network security solutions across on‑prem and cloud environments, with a strong emphasis on network access control, firewall engineering, micro‑segmentation, DDoS mitigation, and security policy automation.
ResponsibilitiesNetwork Security Engineering
- Design, implement, and support enterprise network security solutions across a complex infrastructure.
- DDoS mitigation
- Network Access Control (NAC)
- Firewalls and firewall policy implementation
- Micro‑segmentation
- DNS posture management
- RADIUS and related authentication/security controls
- Support the deployment and maintenance of security‑specific visibility and monitoring tools.
- Partner with internal security teams and stakeholders to manage the products and controls used to secure the network environment.
- Provide engineering and operational support for network security platforms, including Cisco, Arista, Fortinet chassis‑based firewalls, HP Aruba Clear Pass, and Illumio/Actimi‑style micro‑segmentation tools (based on environment needs).
- Participate in application and infrastructure changes to ensure security policies are correctly implemented across the network.
- Support cloud‑based security initiatives in Azure and, to a lesser extent, GCP.
- Contribute to a Security Policy Automation Framework currently in progress, ensuring security policies are applied consistently when applications or infrastructure change.
- Assist with automation and infrastructure management using tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, Git Hub, and Bitbucket.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve repeatability, scalability, and policy consistency across the environment.
- Work closely with infrastructure and other cyber operations partners, who are key stakeholders and internal customers of the team.
- Support broader cyber defense efforts and maintain awareness of red team / purple team / blue team functions.
- Contribute to troubleshooting, incident response support, and network flow analysis as needed.
- Assist with network‑side engineering efforts when pulled into broader infrastructure initiatives.
- Participate in a support rotation for off‑hours and weekend changes.
- Be available for occasional after‑hours support related to production changes, incidents, or application‑impacting events.
- Operate with a high degree of ownership and independence, with the ability to step in and take initiative without heavy oversight.
- Firewall, Network security, Cisco, Arista, Fortinet, Azure, Python, Ansible, Terraform, Dev Ops.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with micro‑segmentation technologies and implementations.
- Familiarity with DNS security/posture management.
- Exposure to DDoS mitigation strategies and tools.
- Working knowledge of Dev Ops or infrastructure automation concepts and tools.
- Experience supporting cloud security in Azure and/or GCP.
- Background working with or alongside Cyber Operation and Infrastructure teams.
Expert Level
Job Type & LocationContract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH. Hybrid role.
Pay and BenefitsPay Range: $60.00 - $60.00/hr.
