Location:

Dallas, TX or Akron, OH (Hybrid) POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Power BI / Microsoft Fabric Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise analytics solutions leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and AWS Redshift as the primary enterprise data platform. This role will focus heavily on building scalable semantic models and enterprise reporting solutions using Direct Connect/Direct Query connectivity patterns to AWS Redshift while enabling governed, high‑performance self‑service analytics across the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in enterprise BI architecture, semantic layer design, cloud data platforms, and cross‑platform integration between Microsoft and AWS technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES Enterprise Analytics Architecture
  • Architect enterprise reporting and analytics solutions leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, AWS Redshift, One Lake, and Fabric Semantic Models.
  • Design scalable hybrid‑cloud analytics architectures integrating Microsoft Fabric with AWS‑based enterprise data platforms.
  • Define enterprise semantic layer strategies that provide consistent KPIs, metrics, hierarchies, and business definitions.
  • Establish standards and best practices for enterprise reporting, semantic modeling, governance, and performance optimization.
  • Lead enterprise BI modernization initiatives transitioning legacy reporting platforms to Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
AWS Redshift & Connectivity Architecture
  • Design and optimize Direct Query/Direct Connect reporting architectures against AWS Redshift.
  • Develop strategies for balancing query performance, concurrency, scalability, cost optimization, and user experience.
  • Partner with data engineering teams to optimize Redshift schemas, sort keys, distribution styles, and materialized views to support Power BI workloads.
  • Define data access patterns between Fabric, Power BI, and Redshift while minimizing unnecessary data movement.
  • Implement hybrid architectures leveraging Direct Query, Import, Composite Models, and Direct Lake capabilities where appropriate.
  • Optimize gateway, networking, authentication, and refresh strategies across AWS and Microsoft ecosystems.
Semantic Modeling & Data Design
  • Architect enterprise semantic models supporting large‑scale analytics and reporting workloads.
  • Design dimensional models, star schemas, and reusable reporting structures aligned with enterprise business processes.
  • Develop governed datasets, KPIs, calculations, and reusable business logic using DAX and Power BI semantic models.
  • Implement Row‑Level Security (RLS), Object‑Level Security (OLS), and data governance controls.
  • Ensure semantic models support enterprise scalability, maintainability, and self‑service reporting.
Microsoft Fabric & Power BI Development
  • Lead implementation of Microsoft Fabric capabilities including Lakehouse, Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Semantic Models, One Lake, and Real‑Time Analytics.
  • Design high‑performing Power BI dashboards and enterprise reporting solutions.
  • Optimize dataset performance, DAX calculations, query folding, caching strategies, and report rendering performance.
  • Establish Dev/Test/Prod deployment pipelines and CI/CD processes for Power BI and Fabric assets.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise BI architecture and data analytics.
