Manager For The Engineered Systems Team
The Manager for the Engineered Systems team is part of the Global Operating Systems, Storage & Compute group within the Infrastructure & Operations organization. The incumbent is responsible for managing the Engineered Systems portfolio consisting of Exadata, Exalogic, Exalytics, ZFS appliances, and Cloud@Customer enterprise infrastructure platforms. In addition to performing managerial duties, the role includes responsibility for project deliverables and global operations covering 24
* 7 support and handling escalations. The incumbent will work with Infrastructure teams, DBA, Middleware Administration, and application groups to ensure that usage of Oracle is always optimal and that the available tools and technologies are identified and used appropriately.

Incidental Functions:
- Lead the monitoring strategy in alignment with existing monitoring tools to effectively monitor all the technical components of Engineered Systems platform.
- Gain knowledge of the technology workspace in terms of current state, future possibilities, forthcoming technologies, and their relevance and impact.
- Engage in Proof-of-Value scoping in the evaluation of new technologies and present findings to Management.
- Provide guidance / assist with various projects as may be required to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the work.
- Assist in performance tuning and monitoring of all system stacks.
- Coordinate and assist with disaster planning/mitigation/recovery.
- Participate in hiring activities and fulfilling affirmative action obligations and ensuring compliance with the equal employment opportunity.
Formal Education & Certification:
- Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) or in lieu of a degree, at least 12 years in experience in the field of Information Technology or Business (work experience or a combination of education and work experience in the field of Information Technology or Business).
Knowledge &
Experience:
- 8+ years of IT and/or business experience.
- Supervisory experience or team responsibility preferred.
- Understand the IT processes of Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, and Configuration Management.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Experience in developing documentation and presenting solutions to management and teams.
- Experience leading projects.
- Skilled at organizing, planning, and communicating.
Preferred Knowledge &
Skills:
- Experience with any of Oracle engineered systems (Exadata, Exalogic, Exalytics, PCA etc.)
- Experience in handling Converged Infrastructure platforms (compute, network, and storage)
- Experience in UNIX/Linux System Administration.
- Expert Knowledge of hardware platforms, networking, storage, and subsystems.
- Knowledge in Dev Ops technologies, strategies, tools, and practices.
- Knowledge in Cloud technologies (IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS)
- Strong knowledge of Linux Operating system and virtualization technologies
- Experience with Installation/Upgrade/Patching of server hardware and platform software.
- Experience with backup/recovery design, DR implementation, monitoring implementation, performance tuning and optimization.
- Experience supporting applications or infrastructure in a cloud environment.
- Experience in server hardening and security standards for audit compliance.
- Good understanding of fundamental technologies like TCP/IP, HTTP(S), SSL, FTP, VSFTP, SMTP, DNS, Load balancer, NFSv3, NFSv4, LDAP.
- Experience with supporting platforms running Oracle Clusterware/RAC databases with ASM or fusion middleware technologies.
- Experience in Web Logic application server or equivalent (Web Sphere or Jboss).
- Experience with installing, configuring Oracle Virtual Machines, managing OVM templates.
