Database Engineer

This is a full-time position located in Westlake, OH. The position is 5 days a week onsite.

We are seeking a Database Engineer to help optimize the performance of our organization's databases. We are open to considering junior, mid, and senior-level professionals, with responsibilities and compensation aligned to experience. In this role, you will enhance data storage capacity, develop support programs and scripts, and troubleshoot database-related issues.

• Document processes related to database design, configuration, and performance
• Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server databases across multiple environments
• Monitor, maintain, and tune database performance, including queries, indexes, and configurations
• Design and manage database structures, storage, and capacity planning
• Troubleshoot and resolve SQL Server performance, availability, and data integrity issues
• Develop and maintain T‑SQL scripts and automated maintenance jobs
• Implement and support backup, recovery, and high‑availability solutions
• Apply patches, upgrades, and security best practices
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support application performance

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
• Strong expertise in SQL Server performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
• Experience with SQL Server backup, recovery, and high‑availability solutions, including Always On, Failover Clustering, and log shipping
• Proficiency in T‑SQL scripting and SQL Server Agent job automation
• Knowledge of SQL Server security, permissions, and compliance best practices
• Experience troubleshooting database performance, availability, and data integrity issues
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve business problems
• Experience monitoring database performance, conducting regular performance tuning, and optimizing queries for maximum efficiency
