Cleveland Museum of Art Intern in Digital Innovation and Technology Services

The department of Digital Innovation and Technology Services seeks a tech-savvy student to collaborate with museum staff on outward-facing digital projects at the museum, including the museum’s reimagined interactive Artlens Gallery and Artlens App as well as ongoing website and exhibition digital projects.

The Digital Projects Intern will learn the basics of project management while assisting with administrative and support tasks in relation to numerous ongoing major initiatives including the groundbreaking next iteration of the museum’s interactive digital Artlens Gallery and the Artlens app, website management, exhibition digital projects, and digital innovation promotional content. Tasks may include testing or reviewing content or software for outward facing digital projects, including writing detailed testing reports and documentation, writing copy for website and social on digital initiatives, and supporting additional outward facing projects as they arise.

The role may additionally include occasional time spent in the Art Lens Gallery interacting with visitors and assisting with technology.

By the conclusion of the internship, the selected candidate will gain exposure to digital project management across multiple diverse projects and work with Digital Project Managers in Microsoft Planner, Teams, and Smartsheet. They will also gain familiarity working collaboratively with teams, including the Digital/Technology division, as well as other areas of the museum and vendors, and experience working with CMA’s custom back-end software systems including Art Lens Middleware, gaining familiarity with collection management systems and data flow structures.

Eligibility

Requirements
  • Be a junior or senior undergraduate student
  • Have experience in Computer Science, Web programming, User Experience/HCI, or Art History
  • No coding skills necessary, but tech familiarity preferred

Compensation for this internship is $15/hr the internship is 28 hours/week for nine weeks.

Typical office hours are 9-5, Monday-Friday. A typical week will include 28 hours at CMA during this time frame. The chosen intern will attend regular weekly, monthly, and biweekly meetings within the department. Project schedule for the next iteration of Artlens Gallery is under development; exact week-to-week tasks depend on this schedule as well as intern’s skill set.
