Taft is seeking a Systems Engineer – Automation, Cloud & Scripting to support our Information Technology department.

We are seeking a Systems Engineer with deep expertise in automation, scripting, workflow development, web technologies, and cloud platforms to support the Firm’s technology ecosystem. This role focuses on building and maintaining secure, scalable, and efficient solutions using Power Shell, Microsoft Power Platform, Active Directory, Azure, and modern web development frameworks. The ideal candidate understands the unique demands of a legal environment, including data integrity, confidentiality, and responsiveness to attorneys and business professionals.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions using Power Shell and scripting tools to support legal and business operations.
  • Build and enhance workflows using Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate, to streamline processes such as matter intake, document management, and approvals.
  • Design, develop, and maintain internal web applications, portals, and user interfaces that support legal workflows and business operations.
  • Develop and manage integrations between on-premises systems and cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Configure and maintain secure cloud service connections, including APIs, service principals, managed identities, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Administer and automate Active Directory and Azure Active Directory (Entra ), including user provisioning, group policy, conditional access, and identity lifecycle management.
  • Develop scripts and workflows to support identity governance processes, including onboarding, role changes, and offboarding, with a focus on security and auditability.
  • Query and manage databases, including SQL Server and Azure SQL, to support reporting, integrations, and application back-end functionality.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of firm data across legal and business systems.
  • Support integrations between legal applications, including iManage, time and billing systems, and cloud or enterprise platforms.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities in a fast-paced, client-service-driven environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across scripts, workflows, web applications, identity systems, and cloud integrations.
  • Maintain clear documentation for code, configurations, integrations, and operational processes.

Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in Power Shell and Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Active Directory and Azure Active Directory (Entra ), including Group Policy, conditional access, and identity governance.
  • Solid experience with Microsoft Azure, including app services, Azure Functions, storage, networking, and cloud service integration patterns.
  • Experience configuring and managing secure connections between systems, including API integrations, OAuth, service principals, and hybrid identity solutions.
  • Experience working with relational databases and writing complex queries.
  • Understanding of data governance, integrity, and security best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with legal professionals and non-technical stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, particularly regarding data accuracy, cloud security, identity management, and confidentiality.

Taft offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, flexible spending, 401K, Paid Time Off, paid holidays, bonus, and more. The salary range for this position is $95,000/yr.

- $125,000/yr. Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted information based on work experience, education, and/or skill level.
