Position: Senior Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer / Consultant: 6-9 years (Advanced)

Senior Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer / Consultant

Location:

Mostly remote with occasional hybrid/on-site work at the client site in Cleveland, OH, as mutually agreed. Only W2 no C2C. U.S. Citizen, Green Card or TN only.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the medallion architecture. Build medallion layers (Bronze, Silver, Gold, including Gold Tier 2 / semantic objects) in Microsoft Fabric per the ratified reference architecture.
  • Set up access controls. Stand up and configure the Fabric access-control default posture: workspace and object security, row-level and object-level security (RLS/OLS) on semantic models, and Power BI report access.
  • Apply classification-based access. Interpret and apply access control driven by data classification tags, and support the citizen-developer model (restricting publish access and tiering who can build reports vs. create Gold T2 / semantic objects).
  • Deliver worked examples. Build and certify at least one end-to-end data product (e.g., OTIF) usable by multiple consumption tools, scoped to non-controlled data and sites.
  • Build pipelines. Build pipelines and orchestration using Fabric Notebooks and Dataflow Gen2 across One Lake.
  • Validate via POC. Execute a thin-slice POC to validate the ratified design ahead of broader rollout.
  • Environment health. If time permits, stand up basic Fabric environment health monitoring (pipeline/notebook/flow load failures, row-count comparisons).
  • Enable the client team. Pair with and enable Lincoln Electric engineers throughout, transferring implementation knowledge so the client team can operate independently.
  • Report status. Provide regular status updates covering activities completed, activities planned, and any known risks or blockers.

What This Role Is Not:

  • Not architecture (re) design. You implement against the ratified architecture. Redesign is a Lincoln Electric decision and may require a Change Order, so surface design tension rather than quietly re-architecting.
  • Not full-scale rollout. Delivery is a thin-slice POC plus the capacity under this SOW, not enterprise-wide rollout.
  • Not production operations. Ongoing operation, monitoring, hypercare, and support after the term are out of scope.
  • Not platform provisioning. Tenant, licensing, and cloud platform security setup are Lincoln Electric responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Fabric depth. Genuinely hands-on in Microsoft Fabric:
One Lake, medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) implementation patterns, Fabric RBAC, and pipeline development with Notebooks and Dataflow Gen
    2. "Hands-on" means you have personally built and shipped this, not advised on it.
  • Power BI / DAX. Working knowledge of DAX and Power BI, including RLS/OLS on semantic models and report-level access control.
  • SQL & Spark. Strong SQL and Spark / PySpark for Silver/Gold transformation and data-product build.
  • Access control. Practical experience implementing access control from data classification tags and tiered publish/build permissions.
  • Embedded delivery. Comfortable embedding with a client team: pairing, translating architecture decisions into working implementation, and transferring knowledge as you go.
  • Location. US-based, able to work Eastern-business-hours overlap with Cleveland, OH and travel on-site as mutually agreed.
  • Level. Senior Consultant level: able to work at client direction with limited oversight and manage your own status reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior forward-deployed or client-embedded engineering experience.
  • Adjacent lakehouse experience (Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, or Databricks with Delta Lake) that transfers to Fabric — relevant for candidates strong on lakehouse fundamentals who are newer to the Fabric SaaS layer.
  • Fabric environment observability / monitoring experience.
  • Manufacturing or industrial data domain exposure (e.g., OTIF and supply-chain data products).
  • Microsoft certification:
Fabric Analytics Engineer (DP-600) or Fabric Data Engineer (DP-700).
