The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing supplier relationships to ensure that the organization meets its sourcing needs while adhering to compliance standards. This role requires a strong understanding of procurement processes, supply chain management, and regulatory requirements. The Specialist collaborates closely with internal teams and external suppliers to optimize sourcing strategies and maintain compliance across all sourcing activities.
Key Responsibilities- Supplier sourcing and evaluation: identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, pricing, and reliability.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers to foster collaboration and improve procurement processes.
- Manage the procurement process from requisition through purchase order issuance, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost savings and improve contract terms.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or service.
- Issue and manage supplier scorecard process.
- Ensure all sourcing and procurement activities comply with internal policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Develop and implement compliance programs and training for the procurement team and suppliers.
- Stay up to date on industry regulations and best practices to mitigate risks associated with supplier relationships.
- Support sourcing audit requirements as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of supplier information, contract terms, and compliance documentation.
- Analyze sourcing data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare reports for management on supplier performance, compliance status, and procurement metrics.
- Conduct market research and promote awareness and growth opportunities of small businesses in all categories.
- Develop and execute small‑business outreach plans and maintain records of outreach and training efforts.
- Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and finance departments to align sourcing strategies with organizational goals.
- Participate in cross‑functional teams to support new product development and other strategic initiatives.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Participate in industry forums and networks to share best practices and gain insights into emerging trends.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management.
- Strong knowledge of compliance regulations and industry standards (e.g., ISO, FDA).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills with a data‑driven approach to decision‑making.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, with strong data entry and reporting skills.
- Familiarity with Kanban systems and inventory management principles.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset to generate and interpret procurement reports.
