SUMMARY
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Property Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance operations of City Buildings and city owned properties. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all building systems, grounds, and facilities are maintained in excellent condition. This role involves supervising a team of tradesmen, building technicians, custodians, laborers and contractors coordinating repair and maintenance tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety and building regulations.
As a Property Maintenance Supervisor, you will be expected to manage daily maintenance activities, respond to service requests, and perform inspections to identify issues before they become major problems. You will also be responsible for maintaining records of maintenance work, managing budgets for repairs and supplies, and working closely with Assistant Director of Public Works to ensure satisfaction. The successful candidate should have strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in property management and/or facilities maintenance is essential. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in maintaining the value and functionality of City properties, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for City employees, residents and visitors.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of maintenance staff
- Schedule and oversee routine maintenance and emergency repairs
- Inspect properties regularly to identify maintenance needs
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes
- Maintain records of maintenance activities and expenses
- Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs
- Respond promptly to City maintenance requests
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs
- Assist in budget preparation and cost control
- Train and evaluate maintenance personnel
- Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of common areas
- Four years of work experience in general electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical repair, machinery/millwright or HVAC, OR completion of a formal training program in building repair to include general electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, maintenance repair, machinery/millwright or HVAC
- Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Technical Training Required
- Proven experience in property or facilities maintenance
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with safety regulations and building codes
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or emergencies
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting
- Valid commercial driver’s license
- Physical ability to perform maintenance tasks
