The Industrial Safety Manager is responsible for developing, leading, and sustaining a strong safety culture across warehouse, manufacturing, and transportation operations. This role provides both strategic and hands‑on leadership by establishing safety policies, training leaders and associates, and driving engagement to ensure safety is a shared value at every level of the organization.
In addition, the Industrial Safety Manager ensures compliance with all applicable regulations through audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and regulatory oversight. Success in this role requires balancing long‑term culture development with day‑to‑day execution to protect employees, support operational excellence, and maintain regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership & Culture- Develop, implement, and maintain company‑wide safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Partner with operational leadership to design and manage compliance programs, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Emergency Action Plans (EAP), Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
- Drive a proactive safety culture through regular engagement, coaching, and visible leadership presence across multi‑shift operations and transportation teams.
- Design recognition and engagement programs that reinforce safe behaviors and team accountability.
- Train and coach leaders on effective safety communication, feedback, and reinforcement techniques.
- Model visible safety leadership through walkthroughs, timely decision‑making, and consistent communication.
- Conduct comprehensive safety audits and risk assessments of equipment, processes, and work areas within warehouse and manufacturing environments.
- Ensure operations align with regulatory requirements, internal policies, equipment manuals, and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for incident reporting, investigation, and case management.
- Analyze incident data, safety metrics, and injury trends to identify root causes and systemic improvement opportunities.
- Lead and train teams on effective root cause analysis and corrective action development.
- Deliver safety training for associates and leaders on policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide refresher, skills‑based, and task‑specific training aligned to operational risks and exposures.
- Oversee fleet and driver safety programs in compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service, vehicle inspections, accident investigations, and fatigue management.
- Partner with transportation leadership to develop and deliver driver‑focused safety training and initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of safety and environmental experience preferred, with demonstrated leadership in manufacturing, distribution, or warehousing environments.
- Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH, or OSHA 511 strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable safety laws; basic understanding of DOT requirements.
