Under the guidance of our Operations Supervisor or Team Lead, the Material Handler is responsible for moving steel throughout our service center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Embraces the 1 T.E.A.M. culture
- Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
- Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.
- Perform pre-shift equipment inspections
- Operate forklift and/or overhead cranes to transport material within service center in a safe and reliable manner from trucks, facility, etc.
- Receive and/or ship material into computer system as needed.
- Move product to storage areas with proper equipment and efficiently stack and store in appropriate area
- Maneuver material handling equipment safely and efficiently through limited space areas
- Stock and rotate materials as necessary
- Verify counts and product shipped and/or received as needed
- Stage material for sales and production orders
- Report all equipment failures to immediate supervisor
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

- Plan and prioritize workload
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow processes and procedures
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Communicate and interact with team members at all levels of the company
- High School diploma or equivalent, preferred
- Licensed to operate a forklift and/or crane
- The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to high.

- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
