Under general supervision, the Set Up Operator performs a variety of semi‑skilled tasks involved in the general maintenance and operations processes and performs related work as required.

Essential Functions
  • Embrace the 1‑TEAM culture.
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required by work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures, and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Develop knowledge of slitter set‑up program.
  • Generate build sheets based on production work orders.
  • Build heads utilizing build sheet instructions.
  • Maintain knife and rubber inventory.
  • Clean slitter knives and slitter tooling.
  • Set‑up, maintain and repair production machines, tooling, and other equipment.
  • Perform routine checks of parts to ensure quality of product.
  • Constantly inspect machinery, equipment, and process to ensure safety.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to use computers and read tape measures, micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to perform complete set‑up and operational tasks of slitting to ensure compliance with customer specifications and production requirements.
  • Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours/days as needed.
  • Able to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the company.
  • Able to read and comprehend simple work instructions, work orders, short correspondence and memos written in English.
  • Able to write simple correspondence in English.
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Industry knowledge and experience, a plus.
