Position Summary

The Aggregate Lab Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing quality control testing on aggregate materials to ensure compliance with applicable standards and specifications. This role involves both laboratory and field testing, accurate documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to maintain product quality and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities Quality Control & Testing
  • Perform sampling and testing of aggregate materials in accordance with applicable standard test methods.
  • Conduct both field and laboratory testing across the full product line to ensure quality at production, shipping, and job site delivery stages.
  • Prepare samples for third‑party testing as required.
  • Develop and maintain site‑specific Quality Control Plans under the direction of a supervisor or regulatory agency.
  • Execute testing procedures in accordance with standards including ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT.
  • Ensure all testing is conducted accurately and proficiently.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Complete and maintain all required reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Interpret, document, and distribute test results appropriately.
  • Communicate findings promptly to supervisors and/or regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records within designated databases.
Laboratory Maintenance
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Inspect, calibrate, and maintain testing equipment.
  • Coordinate and schedule equipment servicing as needed.
Finished Product Monitoring
  • Inspect stockpiles, material sources, and outgoing truckloads at production sites.
  • Monitor stockpile construction to prevent segregation or contamination.
  • Immediately report any contamination or quality concerns to management.
  • Partner with Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Environmental teams to ensure compliance with federal, state, and customer specifications.
Additional Duties
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree (preferred but not required).
  • Prior laboratory experience, particularly in aggregate testing.
