Job Description About the role
- To tear down/disassemble large manufacturing equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Verify and prepare all parts/components for welding, machining, and assembly.
- To read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bill of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately and efficiently disassemble equipment and products.
- To perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards using in-process inspection tools and devices
- To work with shop equipment, power tools and torches
- To operate overhead cranes to move component parts
- Must be capable of handling tasks requiring moderate to heavy physical exertion and be able to stoop, bend, twist, and climb onto large equipment components while performing the disassembly duties.
- To work in a safe manner at all times following established policies and procedures and maintain a good sense of safety and hazard awareness.
- Must be able to work with solvents, grease, and grime under relatively adverse physical conditions.
- Verbally communicate with team members, supervisors and Engineers
- Use judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of operations and processes within the limitations of established or standard methods and procedures
- Interpret customer prints well enough to determine appropriate disassembly sequence for a variety of heavy equipment
- Read, interpret a variety of assembly prints and understand verbal and written instructions
- Demonstrate basic computer skills and ability to use basic shop math
- Must have mechanical ability to proficiently use cranes and other heavy tools and equipment normally required in daily disassembly operations
- Own tools of the trade and the ability to use them effectively
- High school or equivalent, trade school preferred
- 3-5 years’ mechanical assembly and disassembly experience
