Production Supervisor
The Production Supervisor leads and coordinates all second‑shift manufacturing operations within their area of responsibility. The role ensures safe, efficient, and high‑quality production while meeting customer specifications, delivery timelines, and regulatory requirements. The supervisor drives team performance, enforces process discipline, promotes continuous improvement, and supports 5S concepts.
Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate second‑shift production activities, including batching, mixing, filling, and packaging of automotive coatings.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
- Monitor workflow, equipment utilization, and labor efficiency to maximize output.
- Partner with first‑shift and night‑shift leadership to ensure seamless shift handoff and communication.
- Supervise, coach, and develop production operators and support staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address disciplinary issues when necessary.
- Maintain staffing levels and coordinate overtime as needed to meet production demands.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure proper operation of mixers, pumps, filling lines, and related equipment.
- Coordinate with Maintenance to address equipment breakdowns and support preventive maintenance schedules.
- Minimize downtime through proactive problem‑solving.
- Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and KPI tracking.
- Communicate shift performance, issues, and priorities to management.
- Ensure compliance with all documentation requirements for audits and regulatory bodies.
- Assign work to a unionized hourly workforce and hold employees accountable for following processes related to safety, quality, and throughput requirements.
- Support problem resolution with cross‑functional teams, including quality engineer, EHS, and other campus resources. Resolve workflow problems by analyzing roadblocks and organizing work to improve use of personnel, material, and equipment resources.
- Conduct payroll requirements for team members assigned to the shift.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.
- Understanding of safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA).
- Ability to analyze data and make sound operational decisions.
- Effective communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.

On‑site at PPG Cleveland, OH Plant. Shift: 9:30 pm to 5:30 am with occasional overtime and weekend support.
