Role Overview

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will provide critical engineering support across both of Reese’s pharmaceutical packaging facilities. This role will balance day‑to‑day tactical production support with strategic ownership of asset productivity, reliability, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will drive initiatives to improve asset productivity, optimize costs, reduce waste/scrap, and elevate our maintenance and reliability programs. Additionally, this individual will identify and lead capital projects from initial concept through execution and validation, ensuring strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and internal quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily engineering and technical support to packaging lines to minimize downtime and resolve complex equipment constraints.
  • Serve as a key driver for operational excellence, analyzing production data to identify and execute projects that improve asset productivity, reduce waste, and increase yields.
  • Partner with production and quality teams to troubleshoot equipment failures, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement robust Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Evaluate, justify, and introduce new packaging equipment, automation, and technologies to modernize operations and increase capacity.
  • Lead capital expenditure projects from conceptual design, budgeting, and equipment specification through procurement, installation, and commissioning.
  • Manage vendor relationships, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site acceptance testing (SAT).
  • Partner with the maintenance department to enhance and optimize Predictive and Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs.
  • Implement reliability engineering principles to extend asset life, improve equipment efficiency (OEE), and ensure critical spare parts availability.
  • Ensure all engineering activities, equipment modifications, and projects comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Author, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), user requirement specifications (URS), and comprehensive process documentation.
  • Support equipment qualification and validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) in coordination with the Quality Assurance team.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience:

    7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, specifically within a regulated industry (Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, or CPG preferred).
  • GMP Knowledge:
    Solid understanding of GMP environments, data integrity, change control procedures, and quality management systems.
  • Project Management:
    Proven track record of successfully managing capital projects from concept to completion on time and within budget.
