Lithography Technician

$41.01/hr + $0.80 shift differential

Crew schedule – nights or days (7p‑7:30a or 7a‑7:30p)

The Lithography Technician supports the operation of the KBA Metalstar steel flat‑sheet printing press, ensures safety and quality compliance, and maintains production records.

• Comply with established job safety practices, policies, and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives.
• Use and maintain personal protective equipment (gloves, sleeves, hearing protection, foot protection, face shield, goggles, apron, etc.).
• Find and interpret SDS sheets.
• Demonstrate emergency evacuation and shelter‑in‑place procedures.
• Perform lock‑out of lithography equipment and demonstrate proficiency on energy sources.
• Perform BBS/Safety Observation reporting of unsafe conditions.
• Assist in completing incident reports and demonstrate proficiency.
• Properly label chemicals.
• Demonstrate fire extinguisher usage and selection.
• Demonstrate E‑stop vs control stop procedures.
• Demonstrate proficiency in load lifting.
• Support and follow food safety guidelines (GMP, HAACP, SQF) while working in a manufacturing environment.
• Operate, adjust, and repair KBA Metalstar steel flat‑sheet printing press equipment to meet customer specifications.
• Load pallets onto machines and stacker boxes.
• Perform UV checks.
• Demonstrate knowledge of centerline controls.
• Read specification sheets.
• Identify and prepare proper coating for production runs.
• Fill day pots with coating and adjust the coater.
• Change application rolls and read production schedules.
• Scan tickets for usage.
• Stage and maintain packaging materials and follow packaging/banding procedures.
• Band and unband pallets.
• Dispose and recycle all packaging materials (corner boards, wood blocks, vapor barrier).
• Prepare and place QAD production tickets.
• Perform and assist in preventative maintenance on production equipment (track work, elevator) and complete line maintenance.
• Perform general line lubrication.
• Assist with disassembly, overhaul, and rebuilds of production equipment.
• Use tools and select appropriate testing (e.g., do‑nothing test).
• Perform troubleshooting on production equipment.
• Provide on‑job training and develop assigned personnel.
• Conduct inspections of in‑process materials and finished products; recognize defects.
• Demonstrate familiarity with control plans, Infinity, and L2L input.
• Replenish supplies, materials, parts, and tooling.
• Demonstrate ink theory, mixing, and X‑rite color matching.
• Make press plates and understand specifications.
• Relieve operators for breaks as needed.
• Perform record‑keeping duties and data entry in L2L, Infinity, and QAD; communicate pertinent information to the next shift.
• Use SQDC boards.
• Perform cleanup, painting, and housekeeping duties; follow 5S guidelines/audit.
• Pre‑shift cleaning and disinfecting.
• Log in and use Dozuki for SOP retrieval.

• Broad training in a related field usually acquired through high school education, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Job‑related experience of 1–2 years minimum.
• Ability to discern between colors.
• Knowledge of safety practices to address exposures to noise levels, physical obstacles, and chemicals.
• Must wear all PPE as assigned and follow all safety rules and processes.
• Working knowledge of assigned equipment and products.
• Mechanical troubleshooting (hydraulics, pneumatics).
• Use of micrometers, calipers, etc.
• Proficiency with simple hand tools.
• Data entry skills.
• Statistical process control software proficiency.
• Completion of required on‑job and classroom training, including SPC.
