SUMMARYThe driving force behind our growth at Mueller is our people. The Machine Operator I is primarily responsible for operating a computer numerical control (CNC) lathe and mill machine, maintaining quality and safety standards; and maintaining equipment and supplies. This is a standing position that requires physical skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS DUTIES/RESPONSIBLITIES- Read blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Sets-up mills and lathes by installing tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices
- Loads or feeds mechanism by lifting stock into position.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces.
- Maintains specifications by observing milling, drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread cutting operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Constantly strive to improve processes and eliminate downtime.
- Work closely with Operations, Planning, and Leadership to ensure production KPI’s are met.
- Perform job duties on designated shift with flexibility to rotate shift if needed.
- Strong problem-solving skills: ability to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in solving problems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
