Torch Operator – Metal Recycling

Pay: $18.00–$20.00 per hour

Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday Lunch: 30-minute unpaid lunch at 12:30 PM

We are seeking a dependable and safety-minded Torch Operator to join a busy metal scrap and recycling operation in Cleveland. This is a hands-on position working primarily outdoors in an industrial environment. The Torch Operator will be responsible for cutting and processing scrap metal using a plasma torch and other equipment. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a scrap yard, recycling facility, steel/metal environment, construction, fabrication, or another similar industrial setting.

Plasma torch experience is preferred, but candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and relevant industrial experience may be considered. Experience operating a Bobcat or crane is also a plus. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with the potential for long-term employment and career growth for the right person.

• Operate a plasma torch to cut and process scrap metal.
• Safely handle and move various types of metal and scrap materials.
• Operate mobile and/or stationary equipment in accordance with company and OSHA safety procedures.
• Assist with sorting, processing, and preparing scrap metal.
• Follow written and verbal instructions from supervisors.
• Safely operate equipment and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Assist with general labor duties throughout the facility as needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced industrial environment.
• Perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Follow all company safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Previous experience in a scrap yard, recycling facility, metal processing, steel, fabrication, construction, or similar industrial environment is preferred.
• Experience operating a plasma torch to cut metal is strongly preferred.
• Bobcat, crane, or other heavy equipment experience is a plus.
• No specific torch experience is required if the candidate has the right industrial background and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be dependable, reliable, and consistently report to work on time.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
• Must be able to regularly lift 50 pounds and frequently lift 25 pounds or more.
• Ability to carry or push materials up to approximately 100 feet.
• Ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and other physical activities.
• Must be willing to wear all required PPE.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
