About the Associate, Young Leadership Division position:

As the Associate, Young Leadership Division (YLD), you will play an important role in implementing strategies that will create a vibrant and thriving community for young adults in Jewish Cleveland. As part of the YLD team, you will help to deepen engagement of young adults in Jewish life, create greater philanthropic investment through the annual Campaign for Jewish Needs, and offer an exciting variety of programs, activities, and events throughout the year.

This position is full-time and reports to the Director, Young Leadership Division.

Essential Job Functions:

Outreach & Engagement:
  • Conduct meetings with young adults who are new to town and are relocating to Cleveland.
  • Build and maintain relationships with young adults through in-person meetings and interactions.
  • Assume responsibility for individual follow-up from Young Leadership events and activities.
  • May staff Birthright Israel trips and/or other young leadership missions.
  • Manage next steps for participants of key cohort experiences, such as Birthright, LEADS leadership development program, Young Leadership conferences, and missions.
  • Manage a portfolio of donor relationships to cultivate, finding meaningful ways to connect them to the organization’s mission, while working to move their giving to different levels, specifically Ben-Gurion Society for Jewish young adults ages 22-45.
Event Coordination:
  • Plan and implement social, educational, leadership development, and philanthropic events geared toward young adults.
  • Work in partnership with Young Leadership board and committee members to engage volunteers in the event planning process.
  • Collaborate internally between departments and with external beneficiary agencies to execute programming for young professionals.
  • Organize event logistics that include defining audience, date, venue, and overall look and feel of event, while working within a budget.
  • Increase event attendance at YLD events.
Campaign for Jewish Needs:
  • Manage a portfolio of Young Leadership Campaigners.
  • Solicit prospects for the annual Campaign for Jewish Needs.
  • Strategize ways to identify new potential young donors using data-driven research. Contribute fully as a member of the Development Department’s Campaign Management Team.
Collaborative Efforts:
  • Work with Federation staff members who engage young adults in the organization’s work.
  • Partner with Young Leadership team to build and maintain relationships with Cleveland’s Jewish young professional organizations.
  • Take responsibility for tasks and initiatives within the department, as assigned by the Young Leadership Director.
  • Represent YLD at Federation and community-wide programming.
Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team-based structure in an individual contributor role.
  • Working knowledge of and/or experience with the Jewish community, culture, and tradition.
  • Proactive and solution focused.
  • Strategic and creative thinker.
  • Results driven.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.
  • High emotional intelligence.
  • Event planning skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, master’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience. Previous Hillel experience and/or non-profit fundraising experience a plus.
  • Israel experience preferred.
