The Friend Maker Coordinator (FMC) is responsible for recruiting, training, supporting, and overseeing teen and adult volunteers as they serve as “Friend Makers,” building meaningful friendships with children, teens, and young adults with social needs. This role supports all Friendship Circle programming, including weekly programs, camps, events, and community initiatives.
The FMC is responsible for creating a welcoming, reliable, and engaging volunteer culture that encourages long-term involvement and meaningful relationships. Success in this role is measured by volunteer recruitment and retention, consistent attendance and communication, strong volunteer engagement, and maintaining appropriate volunteer-to-participant support ratios across programs.
The FMC also supports the Jewish growth and leadership development of teen volunteers, helping them deepen their connection to Jewish values, responsibility, and community. This role is essential to the success of Friendship Circle, as volunteers are at the heart of every program and relationship we build.
