Local Food Systems Strategies Specialist Part-Time
Under administrative direction, assists in the coordination of all phases of designated program and project development and administration. Assists with special projects as assigned. Supports projects and programs within a work unit. Performs other job-related duties as required.
Under administrative direction, is responsible for assisting with duties related to completion of projects, programs, or initiatives for a City division or department. Serves as the specialist to the supervisor or manager of projects, programs or initiatives. Provide administrative support, schedule meetings and ensure deadlines are met. Assist in creating schedules, timelines, and maintain project budgets. Provides reports, presentations, communications and correspondence as required.
Performs other related duties as required.
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited two year or four-year college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field preferred. One year of full-time paid experience in government or private industry required. Substitution:
Completion of a fellowship program, apprentice program, or other similar program; OR completion of a certification program, i.e., Project Management, Human Resources, etc. Must be able to lift and carry thirty (30) pounds. Valid State of Ohio Driver's License or State-issued identification card. Must be proficient utilizing all Microsoft Office products.
A High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required. A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred. Should be proficient in computer and software applications (Microsoft Office Suites) and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required.
Collaborate with the Local Food Systems Strategies Coordinator to research food policy initiatives with a focus on ending food apartheid in Cleveland.
- Conduct research and analysis pertaining to resilient food systems, including land and water access, coalition building, and alternative food retail models.
- Research best practices pertaining to food and related systems, drawing on local, state, and national case studies and examples.
- Analyze and distill best practice research into clear summaries, proposals, presentations, and other written products.
- Support in maintaining community partnerships and collaborations.
- Collaborate with other staff members and external stakeholders, as appropriate, to develop and implement policy and program reform.
- Maintain efficient communications with internal and external partners.
- Coordinate the food systems team's calendar, as appropriate.
- Familiarity with and knowledge of the local, state, and national food system.
- Knowledge of the City of Cleveland and surrounding communities.
- Ability to write clear, concise reports and to follow and to give clear written and oral instructions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to work as a member of a team and establish and maintain professional working relationships with others.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage projects under stressful conditions.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional organization skills.
