Overview
Food Strong is a Cleveland-based nonprofit organization advancing food justice in Northeast Ohio and beyond by building enduring local food systems from the ground up. Our work centers education, community driven agriculture, and collaboration to expand access to fresh, healthy food while strengthening local capacity and neighborhood resilience. Food Strong operates the Food Sovereignty School Program, which delivers hands on garden, nutrition, and food systems education in schools across the region.
We are transforming a three-acre community farm into a permanent hub for food education, workforce development, volunteer engagement, and neighborhood connection. Through our Care A Van program, Food Strong brings fresh food, arts, wellness resources, and educational opportunities directly into community settings such as farmers markets and neighborhood events. We work in partnership with community facing organizations, grassroots initiatives, public institutions, and private sector partners to increase both access to and demand for healthy food in under resourced communities throughout Northeast Ohio.
Our approach is rooted in meaningful community engagement and the belief that those most impacted by food inequities should help shape the solutions. Food Strong values collaboration, equity, accountability, and learning. We strive to create inclusive programs and work environments that honor lived experience, cultural knowledge, and diverse perspectives. Our team is committed to building systems that support health, dignity, and opportunity for individuals and communities across the region.
