About Cleveland Rape Crisis Center
Cleveland Rape Crisis Center (CRCC) supports survivors of rape and sexual abuse, promotes healing and prevention and advocates for social change. CRCC was founded in 1974 in response to Cleveland's long-standing need for services to assist survivors of sexual assault. CRCC offers services in Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga and Lake counties such as legal advocacy, case management, and therapy services. We also do education and outreach work, to educate the community on sexual violence and human trafficking prevention.
PositionSummary
The Education and Outreach Specialist is responsible for providing educational programming designed to prevent sexual violence and increase the awareness of services at Cleveland Rape Crisis Center (CRCC). Content will be primarily presented to young children (aged 0-10), middle, and high school scholars, parents, teachers, youth-serving professionals, and community members. Through this successful delivery of a variety of education and outreach services, the Specialist will help to establish Cleveland Rape Crisis Center as the premier provider for survivors of sexual violence and human trafficking.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and facilitate best practice prevention programming for audiences of all ages, including school-aged scholars, parents, teachers, youth-serving professionals, and community members
- Provide outreach services by building and maintaining relationships with community members and organizations; distributing literature; and staffing community health/resource fairs
- Work with diverse stakeholders—focusing on Cuyahoga County public schools and other local school districts, early childhood programs, out-of-school-time programs, parent and teacher organizations, and countless other community-based organizations and partners
- Develop and maintain working relationships with school personnel and community-based organizations
- Prepare written materials, supplies, etc. for program sessions and all outreach events
- Gather and maintain accurate, complete records of programs and projects (including program sign-in sheets and completed participant pre/post-test evaluations), and ensure all data is entered into CRCC database
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of education, training, and outreach activities and make recommendations for adjusting as necessary
- Source and staff community health/resource fairs, community-based events, and other outreach activities to increase awareness of CRCC services and generate client referrals
- Associate's degree in Health & Human Services, Public Administration, Business Administration, Communication, Social Work, Education or a related field
- 2 years of experience in a social service, outreach or educational services capacity working with diverse, marginalized or at-risk populations
- 3 months of experience in direct service with survivors of sexual violence
- Prior experience working with youth
- Prior experience working in the field of prevention preferred
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- May consider an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training to meet the essential functions of the position
