• Minimum of 18 months of recent behavioral health experience in an acute care NON-PSYCHIATRIC facility — strong psychiatric nursing or mental health nursing background preferred
• 18 months of permanent experience in a short-term acute care hospital (non-psychiatric) prior to travel assignment
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Permanent Ohio RN license or Compact RN license required at time of submission (Ohio nursing jobs, RN licensure)
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• ONE recent reference (within 12 months) from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in behavioral health is required for submission
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Must pass ECG rhythm recognition test and safe Medicate assessment during orientation
• Negative 10 Panel + Nicotine (Cotinine) drug screen required within 12 months of start; however, nurses are currently exempt from the nicotine-free requirement until further notice.

• Provide direct nursing care to geriatric psychiatric patients in an acute care setting, using best practices in psychiatric nursing and mental health nursing
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, medication management, safe medication administration, and timely documentation in the patient chart/EHR
• Implement milieu management strategies to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment for older adults with behavioral health needs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, therapists, social work, nursing leadership) to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Participate in orientation, complete required modules and competency assessments, and maintain professional standards for travel nurses

• Gain focused geriatric psychiatry experience on a 13-week travel nurse assignment
• Work with a supportive behavioral health team in a busy acute care environment
