SummaryAssists, provides, and coordinates nursing care for patients to obtain and reach optimal health. Participates with the care teams in Summa Health to provide patient focused care. Is able to maintain and adapt to daily operations, interpret and execute provided instructions, and work reliably with professionalism in a medical office environment.
Formal Education Required- Graduate of a school of professional nursing. A nursing school accepted for candidacy status from an accrediting body is preferred.
- Current license to practice practical nursing in the State of Ohio.
- Additional related previous experience may be required for various practices.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and EMR.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team and shows ability to be self‑directed in executing responsibilities.
- Maintains HIPAA confidentiality.
- Ability to travel between locations as needed within the medical group.
- For SHMG (medical group) employees:
Ability to obtain Basic Life Support certification within six months of hire with Summa Health and ability to maintain the BLS certification. - Must pass yearly clinical skill competencies.
- Required ability to handle bodily fluids and possible exposure to communicable disease.
- Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients with an understanding of their needs for self‑respect and dignity.
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other health care professionals in exchanging information and assisting with patient care.
- Ability to communicate with patients, families, visitors and communicating representatives in assisting to achieve health care goals.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Medium:
Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects. Ability to bend, stand, and walk for extended time.
