Description:

The candidate should be able to circulate and scrub for posterior eye and eye trauma.
Typical cases in the 7-room unit include:

- Colorectal: open and laparoscopic bowel resections, some robotic procedures.
- Gyn: oncologic and benign open, laparoscopic, and robotic cases, D&C, hysteroscopy, LEEP, tubal ligation.
- Urology: cystoscopy, stent placements, TURB, TURP, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, HoLEP, open and laparoscopic nephrectomies and cystectomies.
- Breast: biopsies, mastectomies with nodes, and mastectomies with reconstruction.
- Eye: limited to three times a month, including plastics, cataracts, and vitrectomies.
- Brachytherapy: assist with device insertion, primarily performed by radiation oncology teams.
- Plastics: usually in conjunction with breast or gender affirmation surgeries.
- Uro-Gyn: slings and anterior/posterior repair.
- Robotics: mostly in urology and gyn, occasionally involving bariatric procedures.
The unit operates Monday through Friday and often finishes by 7-8 PM. If there is early completion, staff may float to the main OR to finish the day or assist if short-staffed. The main OR covers additional services including orthopedic, vascular, ENT, general oncology, transplant, neuro, thoracic, cardiac, and trauma surgeries. Obligations include two weekend call shifts and an average of one shift from 11 AM to 7:45 PM per week.
