Under the direction of the Nurse Manager or an assigned Registered Nurse (RN), provides various patient care duties for infant through geriatric patients. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The Metro Health System.

Qualifications- Eligibility to continue in the position lasts for a maximum of 3 months after high school graduation.
- Currently pursuing a high‑school diploma.
- Completion of a State Tested Nursing Assistant – Nurse Aide Registry (STNA NAR) course offered through a high‑school program.
- If under the age of 18, a valid work permit.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Ability to work in a team environment while demonstrating good judgment, flexibility, initiative, and effective problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to communicate well with patients and staff using verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Basic computer skills to document observations electronically.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or obtain it within 90 days of hire.
- Preferred:
Registered in good standing as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) with the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Nurse Aide Registry (maintaining ODH Registry status is optional after employment).
- May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day.
- May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Visual acuity in the normal range with or without correction.
- Hearing in the normal range with or without correction.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds independently.
- Ability to lift 250–300 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance.
- Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
- Requires some exposure to chemicals and cleaning products.
