Clinical Nurse Specialist
Job Summary
Monday through Friday, 8-5 with hour lunch, no weekends, no on‑call, with paid holiday time off and paid CEU.
The Clinical Nurse Lead is the market’s subject matter expert on Nursing, Medical Assistant, Lab and Radiology roles, responsibilities, and evidence base best practices. The Clinical Nurse Lead works in collaboration with the Practice Manager who directly supervises ancillary clinical staff, including Team Nurses, Treatment and Triage Nurses, Medical Assistants, Radiology Technicians, and Phlebotomists and who is also responsible for team member hiring, onboarding, staffing, and performance.
The Practice Manager serves as the accountable leader for operational performance, staffing, and compliance, while the Clinical Nurse Lead serves as the clinical subject matter expert responsible for execution, training, and day‑to‑day clinical workflow support. This role collaborates with the Medical Director, Market Presidents and operations leads to provide oversight of clinical nursing care and operations, including primary care nursing, medical assisting, same‑day access, and immediate care.
The Lead Nursing and MA Specialist is responsible for onboarding and training all new clinical ancillary staff. The Clinical Nurse Lead is responsible for local implementation of the point of care CLIA waived laboratory program, radiology program, and infection control program. As a local leader for a value‑based care organization, the Lead Specialist ensures the nursing department contributes to meeting all clinical, utilization management, and regulatory compliance goals.
This role is also a practicing Team Nurse or Treatment and Triage Nurse.
Oversight/Administrative:
- Supports orientation, onboarding, training, competency validation, and workflow adherence for clinical team members
- Guides new hires in their dynamic relationship with other clinical ancillary staff to cover overlapping responsibilities on team
- Collaborates with shared services nursing leadership to introduce education sessions and trainings that encompass both virtual and office capacities
- Act as subject matter expert for all nursing roles and responsibilities, including PCP panel management and primary care nursing and medical assisting activities, Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) standards, Immediate Care protocols, lab protocols and radiology protocols
- Serves as the first‑line point of contact for the nursing, medical assistant, lab and radiology questions and direct support needs
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of clinical tasks, workflows, and documentation in alignment with organizational standards and regulatory requirements
- Monitors and reinforces compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and patient care standards
- Provides day‑to‑day guidance, support, and oversight to nursing and medical assistant staff to promote accountability, teamwork, and service excellence
- Prioritizes clinical operations, manages competing demands, and supports efficient patient flow across the care setting
- Identifies workflow gaps and leads or supports process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and care delivery
- Coaches staff, addresses workflow issues, reinforces clinical and operational standards, and collaborates effectively with providers and operational leaders
- Models professional behavior, maintains patient confidentiality, exercises sound clinical judgment, and escalates issues appropriately
- Serves as a clinical resource, mentor, and role model for nursing and medical assistant staff
- Supports center leadership with coverage during planned/unplanned PTO, leaves of absence, and unanticipated schedule gaps
- Oversee management of medical supply and floor stock medication inventory
- Manage quality assurance and training for point of care CLIA waived laboratory
- Manage quality assurance and training for radiology policy and procedure
- Facilitate completion of all regular logs: eyewash, safety checklist, fridge/freezer, temperature monitoring, emergency checklist, quality control, etc
