Summary

Ensures the provision of high quality, culturally sensitive, nursing/patient care in accordance with evidence-based practice, current research, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope, National Commission on Correctional Health Care, and Standards of Nursing Practice and the ANA Code of Ethics for the assigned clinical areas. Utilizes clinical and business skills in ensuring optimal operating efficiency of assigned clinical areas, including provision of patient care, human resource management and fiscal effectiveness.

Ensures development, ongoing enhancement and implementation of performance improvement initiatives within assigned clinical areas. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The Metro Health System.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of an approved program of nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master's Degree in a health-related field or obtains master's degree within 3 years of hire.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible nursing and managerial/administrative experience.
  • Proven leadership, clinical competence, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated evidence of continuing professional self-development.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to correctional facilities and other work-related sites.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred
  • Certification in clinical specialty or in nursing administration (e.g. CNML or NE/NEA-BC) and/or 3 or more years of experience in Correctional Health Care nurse leadership.
Physical Demand

May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending and ambulating. May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email and other communications. Ability to read job-related documents. Ability to use a computer.
