Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse
Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Ensure optimal patient outcomes through comprehensive clinical management and family support.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and monitor pediatric patients’ condition, including vital signs, EKG rhythms, and inotropes administration.
- Implement and manage specialized care plans for children up to 25 years, including epilepsy monitoring.
- Administer medications and treatments following hospital protocols, ensuring safe medication practices.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Complete required assessments and participate in orientation processes, including ECG rhythm recognition and safe Medicate tests.
- Document patient information accurately and maintain compliance with hospital policies and state licensing requirements.
Qualifications:
- Hold a PERMANENT Ohio license or compact license in hand at the time of submission.
- Possess at least 18 months of recent pediatric nursing experience, including epilepsy monitoring and specialized critical care.
- Demonstrate recent experience in inotropes, in EKG interpretation, and pediatric advanced life support certifications.
- Require ACTIVE and current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, with NIHHS preferred.
- Successfully pass ECG rhythm recognition and safe Medicate assessments during orientation, with a maximum of two attempts.
