Job Summary
Oversees the daily operations and landscaping construction projects. Trains and provides work direction to groundskeepers and student employees. Ensures proper maintenance and operation of groundskeeping equipment. Maintains accurate records of groundskeeping activities, equipment maintenance, and inventory. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or state recognized equivalent.
- Two (2) years landscaping or horticultural experience, preferably with a commercial contractor or for a large commercial complex.
- Valid pesticide applicator's license or the ability to pass the Ohio examination within one (1) year of hire.
- Valid driver's license and ability to establish and maintain driver eligibility under CSU's Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy.
- Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Associate degree, preferably in horticulture or related field.
- Knowledge of landscaping techniques, plant care, and grounds maintenance equipment.
- Familiarity with sustainable landscaping practices and pest control methods.
- Ability to work independently on projects that require one person and cooperatively with a team.
- Ability to maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment and adhere to CSU standards and polices and codes.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to effectively engage with team members when issues arise to ensure appropriate communication and develop effective resolution plans.
- Ability to meet deadlines and tackle emergencies and difficult situations.
