Animal Adoption Volunteer/Coordinator

Examples of Duties

• Under administrative direction, assists in planning, managing, and coordinating the adoption of animals.
• Manages animal transfers to rescue organizations and return to owner programs.
• Promotes animal adoptions and rescues through the internet and social media.
• Assesses the status of existing programs, policies, procedures, and work methods.
• Provides general administrative and/or staff services as necessary to support the goals and objectives of the program.
• Develops and monitors Cleveland Animal Control Volunteer Program.
• Develops and updates volunteer job descriptions and safety protocol.
• Recruits, interviews, and evaluates program volunteers.
• Manages and conducts volunteer orientation, supervision, and training.
• Addresses any volunteer concerns.
• Promotes conflict resolution procedures.
• Operates a computer and other office equipment.
• Handles animals of all sizes.
• Cleans shelter and animals.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of management, supervisory, and/or coordinator experience required.
• Two years of experience in animal behavior, health, handling, and care in a shelter environment are required.
• Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License required.
• Must be a certified euthanasia technician within six months of the date of hire.
• Should have excellent written and communication skills and have a proven ability to deal with the public.
• Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds.
• Should be computer proficient.
