Summary:
A well-established manufacturer is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to drive performance across its supply base. This role supports both supplier development and product quality initiatives, ensuring alignment with engineering and production standards. The position plays a key role in supplier qualification, compliance, and ongoing improvement—especially around cast and machined components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the qualification process for new and existing suppliers in alignment with sourcing and corporate procedures.
- Manage and support supplier quality activities including first-piece approvals, ongoing inspections, and control plan compliance.
- Facilitate supplier understanding and implementation of product specifications.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions related to internal or external quality issues.
- Identify and lead supplier development efforts, targeting inspection systems, quality improvement, and production efficiency.
- Conduct and support supplier audits in accordance with standard QMS guidelines.
- Establish supplier performance metrics and perform trend analysis.
- Act as the key liaison between suppliers and internal quality teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in supplier quality engineering, with a proven track record in supplier qualification and development.
- Hands-on experience with cast and machined component quality management.
- Strong background in quality audits and statistical analysis (familiarity with tools like Minitab is a plus).
- Preferred certifications: ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
- Proficient with problem-solving methodologies and quality systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
- Working knowledge of inspection tools and measurement techniques.
- Independent decision-maker with solid judgment.
