About the roleWe are seeking a full‑time Laboratory Technician responsible for various laboratory testing including titrations, ICP analysis, and viscosity testing. The role requires adherence to safety and quality guidelines while maintaining satisfactory production levels.
Key responsibilities- Ensure tasks are performed within time restraints and according to quality and safety policies and procedures.
- Use test method results in calculations to characterize data (e.g., calculated cetane index, viscosity index).
- Prepare and aliquot samples for required tests, loading them onto validated automated instrumentation.
- Perform daily/weekly verification(s) and calibration(s) on equipment following method quality requirements.
- Conduct analysis on samples through direct testing (wet chemistry).
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment/instrumentation as required.
- Perform calculations required during analytical preparations.
- Prepare samples for multiple testing requirements.
- Execute housekeeping duties including storage and disposal of client samples.
- Monitor inventory levels for supplies and reagents.
- Prepare and maintain standards and reagents; some standards require Level 2 based on complexity.
- Generate, accumulate, handle, transport, and dispose of hazardous wastes.
- Collect, store, and label hazardous waste in compliance with ALS policy.
- Assist in sample receival process, opening packages, sorting mail, and data entry.
- Participate in shift handovers for smooth transition.
- Identify continuous improvement activities for the site.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Laboratory experience preferred.
- Ability to stand for intervals up to 8 hours.
- Clear speaking and hearing for communication with co‑workers and managers.
- Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware.
- Average vision sufficient to read reports and operate equipment.
- Hearing and speech adequate to communicate personally and over the telephone.
